The Lakehead Rural Planning Board was established in 1984 under Ministerial Order by then Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Claude F. Bennett, in accordance with what was then Subsection 72(4) of the Planning Act, 1983, and is now Section 9 of the Act.  The Board is made up of seven (7) persons. One person is appointed by the Council of each Municipality served by the Board. Two people are appointed by the Ministry on behalf of the TWOMOs served by the Board.

The Lakehead Rural Planning Board provides planning services for the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge, the Municipality of Neebing, Conmee Township, O’Connor Township, the Township of Gillies and the unincorporated Townships of Gorham, Ware and Dawson Road Lots 1-20.

The Board typically meets the first Thursday of every month at 5:30pm – this is dependent on having applications to review, so if you wish to attend a meeting, please call ahead to confirm it has been scheduled.
